Midland Defeats Lake Orion In High-Scoring Affair
The base paths were crowded today for both offenses in a high-scoring game where Midland came out on top against Lake Orion, 13-6.
In the first inning, Midland got their offense started when Al Money doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.
Midland notched six runs in the seventh inning. The offensive firepower by Midland was led by Jack Bringard, Carter Knochel, Matthew Babinski, and Jeff Landis, all driving in runs in the inning.
Lake Orion scored three runs in the sixth inning. The offensive firepower by Lake Orion was led by Staruch and Rydquist, who all drove in runs.
Money was credited with the victory for Midland. He went five innings, allowing two runs on three hits, striking out seven and walking one. Knochel and Andrew Wilson entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.
Ulrich took the loss for Lake Orion. He surrendered three runs on three hits over one and two-thirds innings, striking out five.
Midland racked up 11 hits in the game. James Harris, Babinski, Tim Hackbarth, and Griffin Clark all managed multiple hits for Midland. Clark, Hackbarth, Babinski, and Harris all had two hits to lead Midland.
Midland is now 3-1 and travels to Pinconning on Monday.
