Alpena Nearly Erases 6-Run Deficit In Loss To Chemics
Chemics got out to a six-run lead in the sixth inning and held on for a 14-13 victory over Alpena on Saturday. Alpena managed five runs in the failed comeback. Lee, Cadarette, Thompson, and Lee powered the rally with RBIs.
Bats blistered as Chemics collected 13 hits and Alpena tallied eight in the high-scoring game.
Chemics captured the lead in the second inning. Lane Kloha tripled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring three runs.
Chemics took the lead for good with six runs in the fourth inning. In the fourth Alex Money tripled on a 0-1 count, scoring three runs, Colin Terrill singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run, and an error scored one run for Chemics.
Alpena scored six runs in the second inning. Marquardt, Cadarette, and Weide powered the big inning with RBIs.
Jackson Poole was the winning pitcher for Chemics. The righty lasted four and two-thirds innings, allowing five hits and five runs while striking out four. Gabe Sokol threw one-third of an inning in relief out of the bullpen.
Momrick took the loss for Alpena. Momrick lasted three and two-thirds innings, allowing seven hits and six runs while striking out two.
Thompson started the game for Alpena. The hurler allowed six hits and eight runs over three and a third innings, striking out two Nathan Palmateer started the game for Chemics. The pitcher went two innings, allowing eight runs on two hits and striking out two
Chemics racked up 13 hits on the day. Terrill, Kloha, and Brendan Singer each collected multiple hits for Chemics. Terrill went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Chemics in hits.
Alpena racked up eight hits in the game. Williams and Weide all collected multiple hits for Alpena.
