Tyler Pritchett and his Chemic team mates came into Saturday’s division 1 regional at Delta College as the eighth seed but then turned in their best team performance of the season to finish in fifth place only four points behind fourth-place Flushing. Alpena won the region followed by Saginaw Heritage and Traverse City Central. Tyler pulled away from his nearest competitors in the final mile of the race on his way to the regional title with a lifetime personal best of 16:42.65. Seniors Jacob Maschino and Nate Streitmatter also set new lifetime personal bests as they finished in 17th (16:48.74) and 30th (17:14.85) respectively. Senior Connor Lynch was the final scorer for the Chemics with his 64th place finish (18:04.62). Zoren Berlanga and Kevin Hoefer rounded out the seven varsity runners for the Chemics.
The remaining members of the boys cross-country team competed later that day in the post-regional meet which was also held at Delta College.
