The Chemic girls’ Varsity Cross Country team kicked off their 2019 season against excellent competition and came away with a 6th place finish at the inaugural Northwood Invitational. Junior Maddie Isola led the way for the ladies with an 11th place finish (20:31.1). Also scoring for Midland were sophomore Jennifer Tsaras (26th, 21:52.6) , senior Maddie Wenzell (32nd, 22:12.9), junior Nicole James (37th, 22:30.8), and senior Therese Joffre (43rd, 22:40.9). Junior Emma Rudisel, sophomore Lauren McGuirk, and freshman Rachel Mecca rounded out the varsity finishers for Midland.
The JV ladies won the reserve race by taking 5 of the top 6 spots. Senior Alyssa Chritz led the way as JV race champion with a time of 23:11.6. Seniors Josie Sokol, Tyra York, and Maddy Wittbrodt along with sophomore Eva Kickland rounded out the top 5 runners for the JV Chemics. Congratulations to Laura Brookens, Allie Scheffer, and Eleanor Newcomb for finishing their first race as Midland Chemics!
The ladies will compete again this Tuesday, September 10th, at the season’s first SVL Jamboree held at Imerman Park in Saginaw. Race time for the ladies will be 5 PM.
