The Midland Cross Country teams turned in many fantastic performances against outstanding competition this past Saturday at the Bluejay Invitational held at Shepherd High School. Maddie Isola turned in a new personal best time of 20:21.1 on her way to a medal-worthy 30th place finish which led the Chemics to a 12th place team finish out of 21 teams. Jennifer Tsaras (59th, 21:09.1), Josie Sokol (70th, 21:19.6), and Maddie Wenzell (73rd, 21:23.3) also ran new lifetime personal bests with Ella Trosin (95th) rounding out the scoring runners for Midland.
The ladies’ junior varsity team also had many excellent performances to earn a 9th place finish in the reserve race. Nine of the sixteen runners earned new lifetime personal bests including Midland’s top finisher, Rachel Mecca in 20th with a time of 22:36.1. Nicole James (44th), Maddy Witbrodt (48th), Eva Kickland (65th), and Maddie Lang (76th, new personal best time of 24:54.8) rounded out the runners scoring for the Chemics. Congrats to Allie Scheffer for taking over two minutes off of her previous personal best time and to Alyssa Coventry, Alaina Butler, and Bibi Bisail for taking at least a minute off of their previous personal best times!
The Chemics will face their next competition this coming Saturday at the Heritage Invitational held at Imerman Park. The varsity is scheduled to race at 9:30 AM with the junior varsity scheduled to start at 10:55 AM.
