The MHS boys cross country team went up against some of the top runners and teams in the state at the Holly Invitational this past Saturday. The field of over 130 schools is one of the largest invitationals in the state and the Chemics ran well on the very demanding course. The boys earned a 14th place team score out of 23 teams in a loaded division 1 field. Tyler Pritchett was the team’s top runner with a 22nd place finish in a time of 16:45.5. Matthew Crowley (41st, 17:29.6), Daniel Berg (67th, 18:02.8), Nathan Striebel (94th, 18:29.5), and Sam Yoder (105th, 18:37.2) rounded out the scoring for the varsity boys.
The boys also ran well in the JV race finishing 12th out of 20 teams. Kevin Hoefer earned a 17th place (18:43.5) finish with Cal Stearns also placing in the top 100.
The Chemics’ next race will be this coming Saturday, September 21st, at Delta College for the Al Kayner Invitational. The scheduled starting time for the varsity boys is 10:45 while the JV is scheduled for 12:45.
