Over the weekend, MHS Varsity Golfers competed in the 1st Annual Oiler Invitational hosted by Mt. Pleasant High School.

Friday’s round was played at Bucks Run Golf Club. MHS started off solid shooting a team score of 349 which was 9 strokes away from their season low of 340. Drew Gandy lead the Chemics with a 81. Carter Hazen posted a solid 86 while freshman Alex Noey shot a personal best 89. Jackson Shinske rounded out the team scoring shooting a 93. David Draves also participated and he carded a 97.

Saturday’s round was played at the PohlCat Golf Course. MHS finished the day with a team score of 358. Drew Gandy lead the Chemics shooting 1 over par 73. Jackson Shinske added a 91. David Draves and Alex Noey completed the team scoring with both carding a 97.

Flint Powers Catholic won the event. MHS finished 4th place out of 11 teams. Drew Gandy finished runner-up in the event with a two day total of 154. Medalist was Zack Hopkins from Flint Powers. The GVSU bound golfer had a two day total of 142.
