The Chemic varsity boys concluded their 2019 season with some of their best times of the season to finish in 10th place at the Division 1 Region 2 finals held at Delta College. Competing without their top two runners due to injuries the varsity team still ran strongly against the highly competitive field. Nathan Striebel was the top runner for Midland with a new personal best time of 17:35.94 which was good enough for 39th place. Kevin Hoefer (17:39.24, 41st), Sam Yoder (17:41.74, 43rd), Daniel Berg (17:49.45, 48th), and Caleb Brown (18:18.31, 69th) also each ran near-personal best times to score for Midland. Cal Stearns (18:27.89, 73rd) and Joshua Maschino (19:00.07, 85th) rounded out the varsity runners.
The Chemic JV runners also competed on Saturday at the Post-Regional Open Meet held at Delta College. Team scores were not kept for the event but ten of Midland’s runners did earn new lifetime personal best times including Gabe Kociba, Erik Lieberman, Forrest Rich, Brenden Granzo, Talon Cole, Ben Bucci, Jacob Leff, Aiden Porritt, Mitchell McMath, and Mathias Remy.
A huge shout-out to four-year Chemic XC team members Tyler Pritchett, Kevin Hoefer, and Sam Yoder. Your effort, enthusiasm, encouragement, and leadership have been a great demonstration of Chemic Pride! Thank you for being Chemics!
