Midland’s Early Lead Over West Ottawa Sets Stage For Victory
Midland (30-11) jumped out to an early lead over West Ottawa and took home a 4-1 victory on Tuesday. Midland took the lead on a single in the first inning.
Midland knotted the game up at one in the bottom of the first inning, when Liam Grady singled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run.
Midland pulled away for good with one run in the second inning.
Grady (4-2) took the win for Midland. He surrendered one run on three hits over four and a third innings, walking zero. Jeff Landis threw two and two-thirds innings in relief out of the bullpen. Landis recorded the last eight outs to earn the save (2) for Midland.
Griffin Veldheer-Carlson took the loss for West Ottawa. He lasted three and two-thirds innings, allowing eight hits and four runs while walking zero.
Midland racked up 11 hits. Martin Money and Grady all collected multiple hits for Midland. Grady and Money each collected three hits to lead Midland. Midland didn’t commit a single error in the field.
Midland advances to the MHSAA semifinals held at Michigan State University on Thursday at 2:30 to face Grosse Point South; a 9-1 winner over Macomb Dakota in their quarterfinal contest. Game
