Midland defeated Mt. Pleasant 6-1 on Thursday.
Mt. Pleasant got things moving in the first inning. Austin Wetherbee singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.
Midland (4-0, 2-0 SVL) pulled away for good with four runs in the second inning. In the second an error scored one run for Midland.
Jeff Landis was the winning pitcher for Midland. He lasted five innings, allowing three hits and one run while striking out three and walking one.
Wetherbee took the loss for Mt. Pleasant. He allowed one hit and four runs over one and two-thirds innings, striking out one.
Landis went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead Midland in hits.
“Two wins at Mt. Pleasant is certainly a good way to start the season. Willis and Landis both challenged their line up and forced them to put the ball in play. Our offense was able to take advantage of some wildness on the part of their pitchers with a few timely hits and patient at-bats.”
