Midland Grabs Lead In Fifth Inning To Defeat Davison
Midland stole the lead late in the game in a 3-2 victory over Davison on Saturday. The game was tied at two with Midland batting in the top of the fifth when Garrett Willis’s sac fly scored one run for Midland.
The pitching was strong on both sides. Midland pitchers struck out three, while Ryan Webster sat down two.
Davison knotted the game up at two in the bottom of the fourth inning. Hunter Kerry singled on a 1-0 count, scoring two runs.
Liam Grady pitched Midland to victory. He lasted four innings, allowing two hits and two runs while walking zero. Jeff Landis threw three innings in relief out of the bullpen. Landis recorded the last nine outs to earn the save for Midland.
Midland (30-11) next plays in the MHSAA quarterfinal onTuesday, June 12th at Central Michigan University against Holland West Ottawa. First Pitch is at 1:00.
