Girls Golf:

Traverse City West’s Anika Dy was named Miss Golf for the second time by the Michigan Interscholastic Golf Coaches Association – Traverse City Record-Eagle

 

Cross Country:

Coldwater’s Shuaib Aljabaly and Lansing Catholic’s Olivia Theis were named Mr. Cross Country and Miss Cross County, respectively, by the Michigan Interscholastic Track Coaches Association – Coldwater Daily Reporter

 

Hockey:

1. The first games of the season can be played today, and Petoskey is among teams anticipating a return to the ice – Petoskey News-Review

Meet Recap

The Midland Chemics girls’ JV cross-country team had many excellent end-of-season performances at the PROM meet held at Delta College this past Saturday. The ladies finished in 8th place, although no official team scores were kept for this open meet. Congratulations to the following Chemics for setting new lifetime personal best times: Tyra York (23:30), Morgan Hallberg (24:17), Madeline Wenzel (24:34), Hannah Sawicki (26:54), Rebecca Stanley (26:54), Melissa Draves (27:12), Evie Lunsted (27:12), and Christina Owens (29:09). Great times were also turned in by Maddy Wittbrodt, Alyssa Chritz, Maiah Jezak, Breanna Chritz, Lizzie Bott, Haley Samborn, Ellie Browne, Alaina Butler, Bitsy Mammel, and Trinity Looker. Congratulations on a great season and best wishes for the future to seniors Melissa Draves, Breanna Chritz, and Lizzie Bott! Thanks for being Chemics!

Meet Recap

The Midland Chemics boys’ JV cross-country team closed out their season at the PROM meet held at Delta College this past Saturday afternoon with many great end-of-season performances. The team finished in 5th place overall, although no official team scores were kept for this open meet. Numerous runners had lifetime personal-best times including Cauy George (18:21), Sam Yoder (18:40), Kevin Hoefer (19:11), Joshua Maschino (20:34), Nathan Striebel (20:40), Gabe Poprave (20:40), Jeffrey Root (20:41), Brendan Weihl (21:04), and Alex Koke (21:57). Great race times were also turned in by Alex Noey, Zach O’Dell, Kyle Burks, Seth Taylor, Marc Dean, John Riley Herman, Jack Schulz, and Jaelen Skym. Congrats on a great season and best wishes for the future to seniors Cauy George, Zach O’Dell, and Marc Dean!

Boys Varsity Cross Country · Midland High School Boys Varsity Cross Country finishes 7th place

Meet Recap

The Midland High’s boys’ cross-country team finished their 2017 season with strong performances against some of the top runners in the state at Saturday’s Division 1 Region 2 finals held at Delta College. The Chemics finished in 7th place with 209 points. Saginaw Heritage won the region with 53 points to qualify for the state finals along with Traverse City Central in 2nd place (76 points), and Traverse City West in 3rd place (77 points) . Sophomore Tyler Pritchett led the Chemics with a 27th-place finish in a lifetime personal best time of 16:53. He was followed by senior Kenny Steinhilber in 33rd (lifetime personal best of 17:05), senior Jacob Mutscher in 41st (17:28), junior Jacob Maschino in 46th (17:41), junior Nathan Streitmatter in 62nd (18:12), senior Drew Spencer in 71st (18:42), and junior Connor Lynch in 78th (19:10). Best wishes go out to seniors Kenny, Jacob, and Drew after running at the varsity level for the Chemics!
