Meet Recap

Midland High’s girls’ cross-country team finished their 2017 season with strong performances against some of the top runners in the state at Saturday’s Division 1 Region 2 finals held at Delta College. The Chemics finished in 11th place. Traverse City Central won the regional meet with 44 points followed by Traverse City West (63 points) and Bay City Western (89 points). Senior Riley Legge led the Chemics with a 48th-place finish in a season-best time of 20:51. She was followed closely by freshman Emma Rudisel in 50th (20:55), sophomore Therese Joffre in 54th (new lifetime personal best of 21:12), senior Emily Yoder in 55th (21:15), freshman Nicole James in 60th (new lifetime personal best of 21:23), and junior Danbi Johnson in 68th (21:47). Best wishes go out to Riley and Emily as they now move on after running at the varsity level for the Chemics during all four years of high school!

Meet Recap

The Midland Chemic girls’ cross-country team faced tough competition and competed well at the SVL Jamboree #3 held in Mt. Pleasant. The ladies’ varsity team finished in 7th place out of 11 teams and were led by Riley Legge’s 21st-place finish (21:08.6). Also scoring for the Chemics were Emily Yoder in 26th, Emma Rudisel in 31st, Danbi Johnson in 32nd, and Nicole James in 43rd. The girls’ JV team finished in 4th place and were led by Ella Trosin in 5th, Morgan Hallberg in 27th, Alyssa Chritz in 31st, Irene Cline in 39th, and Maiah Jezak in 45th. The ladies will compete for the final time this season at the division I region 2 championships on Saturday, October 28th at Delta College. The ladies are scheduled to run at 10:40 AM.

Meet Recap

The Midland Chemic boys’ cross-country team had a strong finish to their SVL season with a 5th place finish out of 11 teams in the final SVL jamboree held at Mt. Pleasant. The team was led by Tyler Pritchett’s 14th-place finish (17:22.4) and Kenny Steinhilber’s 20th place finish (17:36.3). Congratulations to both Tyler and Kenny as these finishes earn then 2nd-team All Valley honors! Other top varsity runners included Jacob Mutscher in 21st, Jacob Maschino in 36th, and Connor Lynch in 38th. The JV team finished in 4th place and was paced by Sam Yoder’s 17th-place finish along with Alex Noey in 21st, Cauy George in 23rd, Seth Taylor in 36th, and Henry Kessler in 44th. Congratulations also go out to Lars George and Jorge Ojinaga for achieving lifetime personal best times in today’s race! The boys will have their final competition of the season on Saturday, October 28th at the division I region 2 championships held at Delta College. The boys are scheduled to run at noon.

The Midland Chemics played Heritage away. The game was played in a controlled manner until Heritage scored 15 mins in the first half. MHS answered 10 mins later to tie it with a goal from Nate Streich assisted by Cesar Nakasone.
Heritage scored late in the half to get the go ahead goal. Second half scored early for the insurance goal.
Ethan DePierro had 15 saves.
Great team effort.

Meet Recap

The Midland Chemic boys’ varsity cross-country team had many excellent races on their way to a 3rd place finish in the inaugural Freeland Invitational held at Stratford Woods. Saginaw Heritage won the meet with 15 points followed by Montrose with 79 and Midland High with 86. Sophomore Tyler Pritchett led the team with a silver medal worthy 9th place finish (17:21.00). Senior Jacob Mutscher also earned silver medalist honors with a 14th place finish. Senior Kenny Steinhilber and junior Nathan Streitmatter earned bronze medals by finishing 18th and 20th respectively while junior Jacob Maschino rounded out the varsity point scorers for Midland with his 25th place finish. The Chemics also finished 3rd in the JV race with Henry Kessler, Alex Noey, Kevin Hoefer, Sam Yoder, and Seth Taylor scoring points to lead the way. Congratulations go out to Alex Koke for setting a new lifetime personal best in today’s race! The Chemics will face their next competition on Wednesday, October 18th, at the Saginaw Valley League final jamboree held in Mt. Pleasant. The boys are scheduled to race at 3:40 PM.
