Teamwork is a hallmark of Chemic Pride. Legendary football coach, Vince Lombardi wrote, “Individual commitment to a group effort—that is what makes a team work, a company work, a society work, a civilization work.” Chemic Hall of Fame football and baseball coach Terry Wilczek often praised his teams for their ability to make 2 + 2 = 5. In that spirit, Midland High School Athletics and Firehouse Subs on Eastman Ave in Midland are proud to recognize a teammate of the week who epitomizes selflessness and demonstrates a commitment to the success of his/her team.
This week’s honoree is a member of the volleyball team, Senior, Gabby Schloop.
Head Coach Angela McMath nominated Gabby by writing, “Gabby is humble, coachable, and driven and exemplifies Chemic Pride. A three-year varsity volleyball athlete and our team’s top defensive player, Gabby Schloop is and continues to be a leader and role model on and off the court. Gabby was integral in pushing our athletes to be involved through the summer and a major contributor in the team’s successful fundraiser. Gabby continues to be our go to person when jobs need to be done and issues resolved.
Gabby is the daughter of Kacy & Peter Schloop and a member of the Business Professionals of America, the National Honor Society, and is a three-year letter earner for the Chemic Varsity Softball team.
