Multiple Teams · 2018 Spirit Week at MHS

Welcome to Spirit Week at Midland High School.  Of course the week culminates with a varsity football game on Friday night, but be sure to take in some of the student activities and athletic events taking place.

Sunday, October 14


Student Hall Decorating = 12:00-8:00

A week filled with Chemic Pride starts with students from each class choosing a theme and decorating their assigned 2nd floor hallway to show their school spirit.


Monday, October 15

Varsity Boys Soccer – MHSAA District Quarterfinal @ H.H. Dow;  Start time = 4:30

The teams played to a 1-1 tie in their regular season meeting at MHS on October 1st.  The 8th ranked Chargers are the 2018 SVL champions after a shoot-out win over Grand Blanc last week.


Tuesday, October 16

Two events in one location!

  1. 9th, JV, Varsity Volleyball at H.H. Dow High School. 9th/JV starts at 5:30 – varsity to follow at approximately 7:00.

Both varsity teams have lone SVL losses to Mt. Pleasant and are looking to secure the #2 spot in the standings.  The Chemics have held the upper hand in each of the last two seasons.  This match-up is a preview of the District Quarterfinal hosted at Bay City Western next week.


  1. Girls Swimming hosts Powers Catholic at the H.H. Dow pool. 6:00 start.  The Chemics have nearly 50 swimmers this season and have triumphed over Heritage and BCW in the last two weeks.


Wednesday, October 17

  1. SVL Cross Country Championship, hosted at Delta College – 3:00 start

Tyler Pritchett has won each of the previous SVL races and has chance to be crowned the SVL Champion in the boys race.


  1. Band Showcase 6:00

$5 admission

The MHS and DHS marching bands host a festival at the Stadium for area schools to showcase their artistic and musical talents.  The bands perform in order of size.  Midland will take the field later in the evening.


Thursday, October 18

  1. The Chargers host our 9th and JV football teams at Midland Community Stadium.


9th Grade Football – 4:30 Kickoff

The Freshman Chemics carry a 4-4 record into week nine against the 6-2 Chargers.


JV Football – approximate start = 6:30

Midland has not lost in 2018 while the Chargers are 1-7.


  1. Yell Night = MHS Gymnasium (following the JV football game approximately 8:30)

Classes compete in cheers, stunts, games, and of course the Chemic Fight Song.  (9th graders better practice!)


Friday, October 19

Varsity Football  – 7:00 kickoff.
