Chemics run for over 300 yards, improve to 8-0
Kadin Jacobs ran for a 68-yard touchdown on the first play of the game and Midland High never looked back, going on to beat Lapeer 36-7 in junior varsity football on Thursday.
Later in the first quarter, Christian Gordon ran for a 7-yard TD for the Chemics. Mason Frost booted both extra points, and Midland took a 14-0 advantage into the second quarter.
Jacobs struck again in the second quarter on an 11-yard TD run, but Lapeer responded with a 13-yard TD run later in the quarter, leaving the Chemics with a 20-7 halftime lead.
Jacobs scored his third TD of the game in the third quarter on an 8-yard TD run and also ran in the ensuing 2-point conversion to make it 28-7. Gordon finished things off for Midland with a 4-yard TD run and a 2-point conversion to put the Chemics on top 36-7 later in the third.
Jacobs finished with 191 yards rushing and three TDs on 21 carries, while Gordon had 138 yards and two TDs on 13 carries.
The Chemicsâ offensive line, which consists of Jeff Landis, Gage Alaniz, Westin Westley, James Harris, Joey Cullinane, and Ethan Volmering, has paved the way for the Chemics to rush for more than 300 yards in each of their last two games.
The Chemicsâ defense knocked down six passes and tallied six sacks. Andrew Capua led the way with 12 tackles, while Gordon had two sacks and an interception, and Landis and Sam Hine each also finished with two sacks.
