Multiple Teams · JV Volleyball wins tournament


Midland High’s junior varsity volleyball team didn’t drop a single set on its way to winning Monday’s Cadillac Tournament. The Chemics beat Ludington 25-16, 25-11 in the Gold Bracket final, Cadillac 25-21, 26-24 in the semifinals, and Leland 25-14, 25-12 in the quarterfinals.

In pool play, Midland beat Leland 25-16, 25-8, Reed City 25-16, 25-9, and Manton 25-6, 25-7.

Peyton Gerstacker had 23 kills, 17 aces and four blocks for Midland, while Bethany Wilson added 24 kills and 16 blocks, and Maya Albright finished with 20 kills, eight digs and four blocks. Jeni Grinwis added 19 kills, 15 aces, 11 digs. Hailey Werth contributed 29 assists, 16 aces, 9 digs, while Emma Jamrog had 27 assists, 8 aces, 7 digs and Madylin Sherman finished with 10 assists, 10 aces, 8 digs and 7 kills on the day.

 

The Chemics (10-1) play next at Grand Blanc Tournament on Saturday Sept. 12.
