The Lady Chemic Basketball team played their trademark style of basketball which includes solid outside shooting and tenacious rebounding to defeat Bay City Central 50-28 in the opening round of the MHSAA girls basketball tournament on Monday night.
Sophomore Alex VanSumeren lead the Chemics with 16 points, while Skylar Howard and Jayden Williams combined for 20 rebounds.
Midland improves to 15-5 and will face Heritage (17-3) in Wednesday’s 5:30 p.m. semifinal at HH Dow High School.
This will be the rubber match between familiar SVL foes. The Chemics and Hawks split the season series; each winning their home game.
The winner will earn the right to play in the district championship game on Friday night.
