Meet Recap

The Midland High School Golf team finished 2nd among 4 teams in the first SVL Cluster match of the season. The team score of 221 was enough to defeat both Bay City John Glenn ( 230) and Bay City Western( 304), but was not enough to catch Bay City Central which shot a 202. Leading the scoring for the Chemics was Meggie Gandy with a 50, followed by Allison Shepard with a 53, Katelyn Corrion with a 57, and Halle Stanick with a 61. Also participating were Julia Gaffke and Natalie Gaffke. “I was most impressed with the way Allison, Katelyn and Halle scored today. Each of them cut several strokes off their score from our last outing, and they are all really determined to continue to improve. We are a very young team experience-wise, and this was only the second varsity outing for these three girls. I was also impressed with how Natalie played today as a freshmen in her very first varsity competition. It’s exciting to see everyone’s improvement in such a short period of time.” The Chemics will next compete in the Altimore Classic on August 30, at Currie West.
