JV Tennis Jamboree a success

170925-0001

The 2017 Boys Tennis JV Jamboree was held on Monday September 25th at the Greater Midland Tennis Center.  Nearly 80 boys survived unseasonably warm temperatures, playing nearly 7 hours of tennis!

Midland High School hosted the event with the following schools also in attendance:  Dow High, Saginaw Heritage, Bay City Central, Bay City Western, Lapeer, and Flushing.  Format was all doubles.  If teams have extra players, they are matched together to form doubles teams.

Most doubles teams played a minimum of four matches.  Over 75 matches were played throughout the day.  As the event neared completion teams scrambled to pick opponents they had not yet faced, to get ONE MORE MATCH!

For the Chemics:

#1 Doubles Joshua Lang and Mitchell Hillman went 2-1 for the day, beating Dow #2 and Bay City Central #1 and falling to Flushing #1.  Lang played a final match along with a Bay City Central player vs. Flushing #5.

#2 Doubles Trenton Zimmerman and Jackson Shinske went 2-2 for the day, beating Heritage #3 and Lapeer #1 and falling to Flushing #2 and Dow #3.  They were playing a fifth match vs. a Dow team at the end and got pulled off the court when match was still at 3-3!

In the true spirit of the event, #3 Doubles David Draves and Colter Liphard played 5 matches…they even picked up a match during their “bye” round!  They went 1-4 for the day.

Thanks to the Greater Midland Tennis Center for the use of the outdoor courts today!
